Selection Process
The recruitment process is carried out in three successive stages, and candidates must clear each one to move forward.

Preliminary Examination Pattern
Serving as a screening test, the Preliminary Examination consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions to filter candidates for the final round.

Personality Test
Candidates successful in the Final Examination are invited for a Personality Test. This stage carries 100 marks. The final merit list is prepared by combining the scores from the Final Examination and the Personality Test, while the marks from the Preliminary Examination are not included in the final tally.

General Studies (Prelims & Mains)
This section evaluates the candidate’s general awareness across various fields.
- Static GK: Famous books and authors, important days, awards, honors, and sports.
- Current Affairs: National and international events.
- History: Important events in Indian History.
- Geography: Physical, social, and economic geography of India and West Bengal.
- General Science: Everyday observation, experience, and environmental science.
- Indian Polity and Economy: Indian Constitution and economic planning.
Arithmetic (Prelims & Mains)
The questions are generally aligned with the Madhyamik (10th standard) level of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.
- Topics: Number System, HCF and LCM, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Average, Mixture and Alligation, and Simplification.
English (Paper I – Mains)
- Drafting reports from supplied information.
- Translation from Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali/Santali to English.
- Summary or Précis writing.
- Correct use of words, sentence correction, phrases, synonyms, and antonyms.
Bengali or Regional Language (Paper II – Mains)
- Drafting reports based on provided points.
- Translation from English to Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali/Santali.
- Summary writing.
- Grammar and proper linguistic usage.
