WBPSC ক্লার্কশিপ 2024 Part-I-এ ইংরেজি অংশে 30টি MCQ আসে (মোট 100টির মধ্যে), আর grammar ও sentence structure তার সিলেবাসেই আছে। Active-Passive Voice সেই অংশের পরিচিত বিষয়: মূল নিয়ম একবার বুঝে নিলে এখান থেকে নিশ্চিত নম্বর তোলা যায়। এই লেখায় নিয়ম, ছক, ছয়টি উদাহরণ আর শেষে 12টি প্রশ্ন আছে।

Voice কী?
যে বাক্যে subject নিজে কাজটি করে, সেটি Active Voice। যে বাক্যে কাজের ফল যে পায় (object) সে-ই subject হয়ে বসে, সেটি Passive Voice। যেমন: Rina writes a poem. (Active) এবং A poem is written by Rina. (Passive)।
Active থেকে Passive: তিন ধাপ
- Active বাক্যের object নতুন বাক্যের subject হবে।
- Verb হবে tense অনুযায়ী be-verb + V3 (past participle)। Be-verb নতুন subject-এর বচন ও person মেনে চলবে।
- পুরনো subject বসবে by + object form হিসেবে শেষে (বেশিরভাগ সময় বাদও যায়)।

নিচের ছকটি মুখস্থ করে রাখুন। দেখুন, Active বাক্যের tense passive-এও একই থাকে।

ধাপে ধাপে ছয়টি উদাহরণ
উদাহরণ 1: Simple Present
The cook prepares the food. Object ‘the food’ আগে বসবে। Tense Simple Present এবং ‘food’ একবচন, তাই ‘is prepared’। উত্তর: The food is prepared by the cook.
উদাহরণ 2: Present Continuous
They are building a bridge. Continuous হলে ‘being’ বসে। উত্তর: A bridge is being built by them. (build-built-built)।
উদাহরণ 3: Present Perfect
The teacher has punished the boy. Perfect হলে ‘been’ বসে। উত্তর: The boy has been punished by the teacher.
উদাহরণ 4: প্রশ্নবাচক বাক্য
Who did this work? এখানে Who হল subject, তাই passive-এ ‘By whom’ দিয়ে শুরু। উত্তর: By whom was this work done? আর Did he finish the work? হলে উত্তর: Was the work finished by him? (helping verb আগে)।
উদাহরণ 5: Modal verb
You must obey the rules. Modal-এর পরে সরাসরি ‘be + V3’। উত্তর: The rules must be obeyed. (by you বাদ দেওয়া চলে)।
উদাহরণ 6: আদেশ (Imperative)
Open the window. আদেশের passive শুরু হয় Let দিয়ে। উত্তর: Let the window be opened.
Pronoun বদলের নিয়ম
Object যখন subject হয়, pronoun-এর form বদলায়। উল্টোটাও ঘটে: me → I, him → he, her → she, us → we, them → they। আবার পুরনো subject ‘by’-এর পরে object form নেয়: I → me, he → him, she → her, we → us, they → them। যেমন: *She helps me* → *I am helped by her*।
শর্টকাট ও সাধারণ ফাঁদ
- Intransitive verb-এর passive হয় না। The sun rises. Birds fly. এসব বাক্যে object নেই।
- অনির্দিষ্ট subject (someone, people, they) হলে ‘by …’ বাদ দিন: *Someone has stolen my bag* → *My bag has been stolen.*
- নির্দিষ্ট preposition: interested in, known to, pleased with, covered with, surprised at। এখানে ‘by’ বসানো ফাঁদ।
- Modal-এর পরে ‘be’, ‘been’ বা ‘being’ নয়। ‘been’ আসে have/has/had-এর পরে।
- Continuous = being, Perfect = been। এই দুটি গুলিয়ে ফেললে বিকল্পের ফাঁদে পড়তে হয়।
- Be-verb নতুন subject-এর বচন মানে: *The students were taught*, ‘was’ নয়।
পরীক্ষার্থীদের জন্য এর অর্থ কী
Part-I-এ ভুল উত্তরে 0.25 নম্বর কাটা যায়, তাই অনুমানে বিকল্প বেছে নেওয়া ঠিক নয়। প্রতিদিন 10-15টি voice-এর বাক্য নিজে বদলে দেখুন এবং ছকটি না দেখে লেখার চেষ্টা করুন। পুরো প্রস্তুতির পরিকল্পনা পাবেন 8 সপ্তাহের প্রস্তুতি-পরিকল্পনায়।

যে বাক্যের verb transitive, অর্থাৎ যার object আছে। Intransitive verb (rise, go, sleep) থাকলে passive হয় না।
Passive-এ সবসময় কি ‘by’ বসে?
না। Agent অনির্দিষ্ট হলে বাদ যায়, আর interested in, known to, pleased with-এর মতো ক্ষেত্রে অন্য preposition বসে।
Imperative বাক্যের passive কীভাবে হয়?
Let + object + be + V3 দিয়ে। যেমন Open the door → Let the door be opened।
