every day নিয়মিত অভ্যাস বোঝায়, তাই Present Indefinite বসে। কর্তা She (3rd person singular), তাই verb-এ s/es লাগে: goes। go কর্তা I/you/we/they-এর সঙ্গে চলত, আর going ও gone-এর আগে সহায়ক verb (is, has) ছাড়া বাক্য হয় না।
- অভ্যাস বা নিয়মিত কাজে Present Indefinite
- 3rd person singular কর্তায় verb + s/es
- every day, always, usually হল ইঙ্গিত
- does বা doesn't-এর পরে verb-এ s বসে না: She does not go
- He/She/It এলে verb-এ s জুড়ুন
He has lived in Kolkata ___ 2015.
2015 একটা নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের বিন্দু, তাই Present Perfect-এর সঙ্গে since বসে। for বসে সময়ের দৈর্ঘ্যের আগে (for ten years)। from সাধারণত to বা till-এর সঙ্গে আসে, আর ago শুধু Past Indefinite-এর সঙ্গে চলে।
- since + সময়ের বিন্দু (2015, Monday, morning)
- for + সময়ের দৈর্ঘ্য (5 years, two hours)
- দুটোই Perfect বা Perfect Continuous-এর সঙ্গে
- ago-র সঙ্গে Present Perfect লেখা ভুল: 'has lived 5 years ago' চলে না
- Since = শুরুর তারিখ, For = কতক্ষণ

'By the time the police arrived' বলছে পুলিশ আসার আগেই চোরের পালানো শেষ হয়ে গিয়েছিল। অতীতের দুটো ঘটনার মধ্যে আগের ঘটনায় Past Perfect বসে: had run। has run বর্তমানের সঙ্গে যুক্ত, runs অভ্যাস, will run ভবিষ্যৎ।
- Past Perfect = had + V3
- অতীতের দুই ঘটনায় আগেরটায় had + V3, পরেরটায় V2
- by the time, before, already হল ইঙ্গিত
- পরের ঘটনার (arrived) verb-এ had বসাবেন না
- আগে had, পরে V2
Look! The baby ___.
Look! বলছে কাজটা এখনই চোখের সামনে চলছে, তাই Present Continuous: is sleeping। sleeps অভ্যাস বোঝায়, slept অতীত, আর has slept-এ কাজ শেষ হয়ে গেছে বোঝায়।
- Present Continuous = am/is/are + V-ing
- Look!, Listen!, now, at the moment হল ইঙ্গিত
- always-এর সঙ্গে Continuous বিরক্তি বোঝায়: He is always complaining
- Look/Listen দেখলেই ing ভাবুন
I ___ him yesterday.
yesterday একটা শেষ হয়ে যাওয়া নির্দিষ্ট অতীত সময়, তাই Past Indefinite: met। নির্দিষ্ট অতীত সময়ের সঙ্গে Present Perfect (have met) বসে না। meet বর্তমান, আর have been meeting চলমান কাজ বোঝায়।
- yesterday, last week, in 2010, ago-র সঙ্গে Past Indefinite
- Present Perfect-এ নির্দিষ্ট অতীত সময় বসে না
- 'I have met him yesterday' বহুল প্রচলিত ভুল
- নির্দিষ্ট দিন/তারিখ থাকলে V2

If it rains tomorrow, we ___ the match.
If-clause-এ Present Indefinite (rains) থাকলে মূল বাক্যে will + V1 বসে, কারণ এটা বাস্তব সম্ভাবনার ভবিষ্যৎ শর্ত। would cancel অবাস্তব কল্পনায় (If it rained...) বসত। cancelled আর had cancelled অতীত, tomorrow-র সঙ্গে চলে না।
- If + Present Indefinite, ... will + V1
- if-clause-এ will বসে না
- tomorrow ভবিষ্যৎ বোঝায়
- 'If it will rain' ভুল
- If-এর পরে will নয়, Present
The sun ___ in the east.
চিরন্তন সত্য বা প্রাকৃতিক নিয়ম বোঝাতে Present Indefinite বসে: rises। is rising শুধু এই মুহূর্তের কাজ বোঝায়, rose ও has risen নির্দিষ্ট ঘটনা বোঝায়, সত্য নয়।
- চিরন্তন সত্যে Present Indefinite
- The Earth moves round the sun
- Water boils at 100°C
- ঐতিহাসিক সত্যেও অতীত নয়, তবে ঘটনা হলে V2: Gandhi was born in 1869
- সত্য = সবসময় V1
She ___ for two hours when I called.
ফোন করার আগে থেকে দুই ঘণ্টা ধরে অপেক্ষা চলছিল, আর ফোন করা অতীতের ঘটনা। তাই Past Perfect Continuous: had been waiting। has been waiting বর্তমান পর্যন্ত চলা কাজ বোঝায়, waits অভ্যাস, will wait ভবিষ্যৎ।
- Past Perfect Continuous = had been + V-ing
- for + সময়ের দৈর্ঘ্য কাজের স্থায়িত্ব দেখায়
- has been আর had been গুলিয়ে ফেলবেন না: দ্বিতীয় ঘটনা অতীতে হলে had been
- had been + ing = অতীতের আগে থেকে চলছিল
Which sentence is correct?
know একটা stative verb (অবস্থা বোঝায়), তাই সাধারণত Continuous-এ বসে না: He knows. 'is knowing' ভুল, 'has know' ভুল কারণ has-এর পরে V3 (known) লাগে, আর 'He knowing' বাক্যে সহায়ক verb নেই।
- Stative verb: know, like, love, want, believe, understand, belong
- এগুলো সাধারণত -ing হয় না
- see/think/have অন্য অর্থে Continuous হতে পারে: I am having lunch
- অবস্থার verb-এ ing নয়

This time next week, I ___ on the beach at Digha.
আগামী সপ্তাহের একটা নির্দিষ্ট সময়ে কাজটা চলতে থাকবে, তাই Future Continuous: will be sitting। sit বর্তমান, sat অতীত, have sat Present Perfect, যা ভবিষ্যতের সময়ের সঙ্গে বসে না।
- Future Continuous = will be + V-ing
- this time tomorrow/next week হল ইঙ্গিত
- will sit বললে কাজটা শুধু ঘটবে, চলমান ছবি আসে না
- ভবিষ্যতের কোনো মুহূর্তে চলমান = will be + ing
Rahul ___ the book by the end of this month.
by + ভবিষ্যতের সময় বোঝায় নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের মধ্যে কাজটা শেষ হয়ে থাকবে: Future Perfect, will have + V3। finished আর had finished অতীত, is finishing চলমান বর্তমান।
- Future Perfect = will have + V3
- by next month, by 2030, by the time he comes হল ইঙ্গিত
- by the time-এর পরের clause-এ will বসে না: By the time he comes, I will have left
- by + ভবিষ্যৎ = will have + V3

'She had written the letter before he came.' What is the tense of 'had written'?
had + V3 (written) হল Past Perfect, কারণ কাজটা অতীতের আরেকটা ঘটনা (he came)-এর আগে শেষ হয়েছিল। Present Perfect-এ has/have থাকে, Past Continuous-এ was/were + ing, আর Past Indefinite-এ শুধু V2।
- had + V3 = Past Perfect
- has/have + V3 = Present Perfect
- V3 দেখে Present Perfect ভাববেন না: আগে সহায়ক verb দেখুন
- had দেখলেই Past Perfect
